Despite this Susan still happily works as a music teacher, band director and 1st grade reading specialist. Plus she shares the school bus driving job with her husband, Dirk, who lost one of his arms in a farming accident. When her school had no money for musical instruments Susan made them some out of anything she could find to recycle, including flutes made from plastic pipes.
