At one of the crime scenes, the detectives apprehend a man disguised as the superhero, who turns out to be Berry himself, intent on finding the killer. When forensics concludes that Berry is not the killer, the actor is released, but an attempt on Berry's life at an autograph-signing puts the detectives on the trail of the one responsible.
