But before they can do so, Challis and Bardi make an appearance. Challis insists they remain as his guests. Cisco senses something is drastically wrong. He saves Challis' life when Rand tries to kill him, and after he and Cisco encounter a masked axe-man in their room, he substitutes for Rand when the latter is pitted against Bardi in a fist fight. Thereafter, Cisco and Pancho learn that Challis is conducting piracy on land, against wagon trains which are led into hidden valley and looted, with the men forced into peonage. Cisco and Pancho make a break, Pancho gets away and a captured Cisco is liberated by the masked axe-man who turns out to be Walker. Cisco has the men mutiny, and they battle it out against Challis, Bardi and Yaquis--with Pancho poppi
