Gene learns that the former sheriff was killed by three gunshots, but Gene knows Randy only uses one shot. Gene takes this evidence to the judge, who request more evidence. Gene hides a microphone at the jail, and Randy worms out a confession from Al, who says he framed Randy so he could get his hands on the Barkers' ranch. Gene and the judge here this, and Al is jailed.
