Carver and Ackland reminisce over their twenty years of service together at Sun Hill when he is in hospital after being assaulted by his drunken wife, Marie. Murphy sees Taviner in the yard, and realizes he is alive. Webb returns to collect his belongings and reveals that he has transferred to the Murder Investigation Team, but has a frosty reception due to his rape by Martin Delaney, but tells his former colleagues to ignore it.
