Gene finds clues in the mayor's office that Cottonwood is rich in Tungsen Ore. The mayor finds Gene, and sends him to sheriff Pat Buttram, who lets him off the hook. Barbara tries to warn Dan, but is caught by two of the mayor's henchmen, who make her part of their plan to capture Gene. Gene finds the real Maverick Dan, who is really the mayor in disguise. With that, Gene and Barbara bring in the outlaws.
